1962 kefauver-harris amendment to ensure safety and effectiveness of all new drugs on the market. burden put on drug manufacturing companies as good practices were put into place. preventing the sale of thalidomide in the u.s.
1970 comprehensive drug abuse prevention and control act. the DEA drug enforcement administration was formed to enforce laws concerning substance and their distribution. a stair step schedule of controlled substances.
1983 orphan drug act allowed drug companies to bypass the lengthy time requirements of testing a new drug and the costs that accompanied testing to provide a medication to persons who had a rare disease.
1987 prescription drug marketing act controlled the use of drugs in animals. required CAUTION federal law restricts this drug to use by or on the order of a licensed vet.
1990 omnibus budget reconciliation act. OBRA 90 deals specifically with practicing pharmacists. the law came about because of reimbursement regulations for persons who are covered under medicaid or medicare insurance.offer counsel to patints with new prescription like it name, side effects

2005 combat meth act all manufactoring,law enforcenment,sale of this drug.pseudoephedrine still labled as a no controlled substance. the otc status of pseudoephedrine has changed since the u.s. government is aware of its use in meth.phamacist or tech may dispense this drug
1970 poison prevention packing act manufactuers and pharmacies to place all medications with childproof caps. both over counter and prescription
