Slippery Slope The conclusion that if A happens then through a series of small steps (A,B,C,D...etc) Z will happen. So in order too prevent Z from happening A must not be able to occur either.
Hasty Generlization A conclusion based on insufficient/biased evidence
Post Hoc Ergo Propter The conclusion that if A occurred after B then B must have caused A
Genetic Fallacy When someone concludes something about a theory, idea, person or institute based on its origins
Begging the Claim The conclusion the writer should prove (When the writer restates previous things in an effort to prove their point-)-Assumes a proposition that's in need of proof
Circular Argument Restates argument rather than actually proving it- Uses conclusion to try and prove claim
Either/or Over simplifies argument by reducing it to only two sides (exaggerated)
Ad Horminem An attack on someone rather then actually prove their point
Ad Populum Writer uses emotion to try and win people over- speaks to + or - concepts/ideas rather than the real issue at hand
Red Herring Avoids opposing arguments- focus on the positive and tries to distract you from the negative
Ethos Trust/Creditablity
Pathos Passion/Emotion
Logos Hard Evidence/Logic
