7LA Argument Terms
| Term | Definition |

| argument | claim + evidence; writing that is meant to persuade an audience |
| claim | what the writer is trying to prove; their opinion |
| evidence | the reasons, facts, examples, statistics, etc. that a writer uses to support their claim |
| counterclaim | the opposite argument of your claim |
| refutation | proving the counterclaim wrong |
| relevant evidence | evidence that is related to the claim |
| sufficient evidence | evidence that is enough in both quality and quantity |
| logical appeals | uses facts, data, statistics, and statements that just make sense |
| emotional appeals | makes a reader feel a certain way |
| expert opinion | a type of logical evidence; using the viewpoint of someone considered to be an expert to support a claim |
| loaded language | highly charged emotional words |
