Consciousness

TermDefinition
Consciousness awareness of one's self and one's environment
Controlled Processing we are aware of what we are doing
Automatic Processing performing tasks mechanically
Sensory Awareness aware of sensations and stimuli around you (more consciousness of some things than others)
Direct Inner Awareness Thoughts, images, emotions, and memories/things inside yourself.
Sense of Self Aware of ourselves and our existence
Preconscious Information that is not conscious, but it's retrievable into conscious awareness.
Unconscious Freud: Reservoir of mostly unacceptable thoughts, wishes, feelings, and memories of which we are unaware but which influences our behavior.
Nonconscious Bodily processes of which we are not aware.
