Non fiction features

Features of non fiction writing

TermDefinition
Formal Writing Authoritative, serious tone.
Informal writing A more personal tone and chatty
Short sentences Impactful especially after long sentences. (punchy)
Rhetorical Question A question with no answer.
Use of a command (Stop! Think about it!) Get the reader to do something.
Written in the first person (I and we). A personal voice,  Feel part of a team.
Written in the second person (you) Speaks directly to the reader
Hyperbole (exaggeration)  used to emphasise a point, 
Anecdotes A short story to involve the reader.
statistics Using numbers as facts makes it seem true.
Expert Opinion Using an expert to make the reader persuaded.
