Energy The ability to do work
Gravity The force that keeps us on earth
Friction Resistance of motion that happens from objects rubbing against each other
Mechanical Energy Energy from motion or position. Two kinds: Kinetic and Potential.
Potential Energy Stored energy because of a position
Kinetic Energy Energy of motion
Thermal Energy Energy of moving particles (connected with heat).
Conductors Easily allow the transfer of heat
Insulators Prevent (stop) the transfer of heat
Conduction heat transfer by touching
Convection heat transfer through liquid or gas
Radiation heat transfer through electromagnetic waves (how the sun heats the earth)
