Key words

WordMeaning
Ampule Small glass container that is sealed and holds a single dose of medication, usually for injection.
Elixir Clear, sweetened, flavored medication containing alcohol(Etoh) and water
Intradermal Into or within the dermis of the skin.
Intramuscular Into or within the muscle.
Meniscus Curved line that develops on the upper surface of a liquid when poured into the container.
Subcantaneous Beneath the skin;medications injected into the subcantaneous tissue.
Suspension Medication in which undissolved particles of medication are dispersed throughout the liquid.
Syrup Aqueous solution sweetened with sugar or a sugar substitute to disguise taste.
Vial Glass or plastic container with metal-enclosed rubber seal for injectable medications; may hold single or multiple doses.
