What is a Protagonist? the main character
What is a Antagonist? a person or force in conflict with the Protagonist (bad guy)
What is a round developed character? a well developed character
What is a flat character? a one dimensional character
What is a dynamic? grows and changes learns lessons
What is a static? dose not change or learn lessons
What is characterization? an authors development of characters
What is direct characterization? an author directly tells about the characters
What is an indirect characterization? an author hints at clues about the reader must make inferences
What is the setting? when and where the story takes place
What is the plot? the series of events in a story
Identify the exposition... beginning of the story (setting, characterization and basic conflict revealed)
Identify the rising action... suspense and conflict build and lead to the climax
Identify the climax... the highest point of suspence
Identify the falling action... conflicts are resolved
Identify the resolution... the conclusion the tying together of all of the threads
What is the theme? the moral of the story the lesson learned
What is a flash back? a reference to something that happened earlier in the story
What is foreshadowing? a hint at something that will happen
