Geography Terms

Geographer A person who studies geography
Latitute Imaginary lines on Earth that go from east to west and show a location's distance from the Equator
Longtitude Imaginary lines on Earth that go from north to south and show a location's distance from the Equator
Absolute Location The exact location of any place on Earth
Relative Location The location of a place in relation to other landmarks
Contiguous Land that is connected by shared borders
Territory An area of land that is under a country's control and protection, but is not part of the country
Canyon Deep valley with steep sides
Navigable Deep and wide enough for ships to travel on or through
Tributaries A river or stream that flows into a larger river or lake
