Environmental Changes

| environmental change | are changes to an environment in which the results may be good or bad for organisms |
| climate change | are changes to an ecosystems climate conditions over a tong-time period |
| native species | is a species that was already living in an ecosystem |
| invasive species | is a species that grows quickly as it is introduced into a new environment |
| extinction | happens when all the members of a species die out. |
| prey | an animal that is hunted and killed by a predator |
| predator | an animal that hunts and kills prey for its food |
| pollution | is the contamination of air, water or solid by harmful substances |
| flood | an overflowing of a large amount of water beyond what is normal |
| drought | a long period of very low rainfall, leading to a shortage of water |
| impact | to directly affect or change something |
| overpopulation | An increase in the number of individuals of a given species over what its ecosystem can sustain, often with both direct and indirect effects on other organisms in the ecosystem |
| benefit | something that produces good or helpful results; an advantage |
| compete | to struggle against another to get an advantage or get something |
