word wall terms and definitions

TermDefinition
author Person who writes a book
title The name of a book
nonfiction Books about things that are true
fiction Books made up by the author
spine The edge of the book, where you can see the books title
fiction Books with made-up stories
call number The "address" for the book, which tells where the book can be found in the library.
Illustrator The person who draws the pictures for a book
Barcode The computer code on a book that we use for checking out.
Biography A book about a persons life, written by another person.
Publisher The company that makes the book.
Atlas A book of maps.
Dictionary A book with words in ABC order and their definitions.
Title Page The page inside the book with the title, author and illustrator.
Glossary The section in the back of a nonfiction book that gives you definitions of vocabulary words from the book.
Table of Contents The section in the front of the book that tells you the names of the chapters and on what page they start.
Reference The section of the library with encyclopedias, dictionaries, thesauruses, atlases, and almanacs.
Autobiography The book a person writes about his or her own life.
