What is the definition of a parenteral route of adminsitration? Bypassing the GI tract
What is the most utilized parenteral route? SC

What is a disadvantage of the parenteral route of administration? Painful, pose opportunity for infection and medication cannot be retracted
What is an implant? Medication in a porous membrane, surgically placed to deliver over a period of years
Why would we choose a rectal route of adminsitration over an oral route of adminstration? Disease state, whether or not a patient is conscious, nauseous and vomiting
What is meant by a drug becoming systemic? That the drug is available in the bloodstream
How many times can you refill a CII? NONE
How many times can you refill a CIV? 5 TIMES
Who regulates safety in the workplace? OSHA
What law insures that a patient's privacy is protected? HIPAA
