Writing Narrative Key Vocabulary
| Term | Definition |

| Coma | Punctuation mark used to signal a pause in reading to separate to simple sentences or clauses. |
| Compound Sentence | a sentence that contains two or more simple sentences, or main clauses. |
| Conclusion | The end of a piece of writing in which the author restates his or her position and sums up the text's main points ( lesson 12). |
| Position | the point of view that the writing decides to take after reading a text. |
| Response to Literature | a type of writing in which the author states a position, or gives an opinion , about a story, play, or poem. |
| Text Evidence | evidence found directly in the text that can be used to support claims made by the reader. |
| Transition | a word or phrase that connects sentences, paragraphs, or ideas to help writing flow |
| Writing Prompt | occasion demands the reader to quickly respond in writing, (which is a usually a higher level thinking question ) |
