Ariene Research on Antivirals

BRANDGENERICWARNINGSSIDE EFFECTS
VIDEX oral DIDANOSINE (DDI) didanosine has caused a severe (sometimes fatal) pancreas problem (pancreatitis) when used alone or with other HIV medicines Headache, diarrhea, or tingling/numbness of hands or feet may occur
AZT azidothymidine IV ORAL zidovudine severe blood problems including a decrease in red blood cells (anemia) and white blood cells (neutropenia). This occurs more frequently in people with advanced HIV disease (AIDS) Headache, tiredness, weakness, nausea, vomiting, trouble sleeping, loss of appetite, dizziness, or constipation may occur
This drug should not be used with the following medications because very serious interactions may occur: stavudine, ribavirin If you are taking HIV medications for the first time, you may experience a return of symptoms from an old infection. This may happen as your immune system begins to work better and is called the immune reconstitution syndrome.
Symptoms might include: new cough, trouble breathing, fever, new vision problems, new headaches, new skin problems.
EMTRIVA oral EMTRICITABINE Rarely, emtricitabine has caused a severe (sometimes fatal) liver and blood problem (lactic acidosis). Headache,nausea,diarrhea,stomach pain,trouble sleeping,darkening skin color on palms of hands & soles of feet,cough,loss of appetite,dizziness,or runny nose may occur. Lamivudine is similar to emtricitabine and should not be taken with this medication.
ZERIT oral Stavudine severe (sometimes fatal) liver and blood problem (lactic acidosis).severe (sometimes fatal) pancreas Headache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or tingling/numbness of hands or feet may occur.
