TMJ arthrography is done to: diagnose abnormalities of the articular disk, or anterior displacement of disk due to trauma
Articular disk oval disk of fibrocartilage that separates the 2 joint cavities of the TMJ
How much contrast is used for a TMJ arthrogram? .5-1 ml
Where is the puncture site for a TMJ arthrogram? ½” anterior to the tragus
What preliminary x-rays are taken before a TMJ arthrogram? open and closed tomograms
post injection projections for TMJ arthrography after the injection of contrast tomo or x-ray with mouth open, closed, and partially closed.
