Geography Terms

These will be common definitions of the geographic world

TermDefinition
Mediterranean climate A climate characterized by moist, mild winters and hot, dry summers.
Latitude A measure of distance north or south of the equator.
Jungle An area covered with dense vegetation dominated by trees.
Island Any piece of sub-continental land that is surrounded by water.
Ice Age A time of widespread glaciation
Gulf A large area of water that lies within a curved coastline
Geosphere The nonliving parts of the Earth
Globe A true-to-scale map of the Earth
Equator An imaginary circle around the Earth halfway between the North Pole and the South Pole
Elevation The height of a point on the Earth's surface with respect to sea level.
