Kinetic Energy Energy of motion
Potential Energy Energy of position/height
Mechanical Energy The combination of an object's potential and kinetic energy
Sound Energy Vibration of particles from one to the next. (sound vibrates one atom and then the next one and so on)
Thermal Energy Is the energy that comes from the movement of atoms and molecules in a substance. (Heat)
Chemical Energy Is energy stored in the bonds of atoms and molecules. (has the potential to release energy)
Nuclear Energy Is energy stored in the nucleus of an atom—the energy that holds the nucleus together.
Electromagnetic (light) energy Is electromagnetic energy that travels in waves. (includes visible light, x-rays, gamma rays, and radio waves)
Electrical Energy Is delivered by tiny charged particles called electrons, typically moving through a wire.
Energies that are kinetic thermal, sound, electrical
Energies that are potential chemical, nuclear, gravitational potential energy
Energies that are both mechanical (possibly electrical depending on how you look at it)
The law of conservation of energy Energy cannot be created or destroyed. It can only change form.
