| wave | they caused by vibrations of particals in a medium. |
| medium | solid, liquid, or gas. |
| transverse wave | particals move perpindicular. |
| crest | upward vibrations of a transverse wave. |
| electromagnetic waves | disturbances in a physical medium. |
| amplitude | how far particals move . |
| wave speed | depends on mediums. |
| wavelength | distance from a point to another on a wave. |
| frequency | number of waves . |
| hertzz | is a unit of frequencys. |
| power | the amount of work done per unit of time. The unit for power, joules/second, is the watt. Power= work/time work = joules time =seconds. |
| trough | downward vibration of a transverse wave. |
| longitudinal wave | particles moving back and forth. |
| compression | short particles. |
| rarrefaction | long particles. |
| mechanical waves | waves that required a medium are called mechanical waves. |
| force | a push or pull on an object, force is measured by newtons. |
| work | use of force to move an object distant, work i measured in joules. |
| If the distance between the crest and the trough of a wave are increased, would the wave frequency. Increase or Decrease? | Increase. |
| if a noisy toy is placed inside a airtight glass container | no, because there is no air to transmit the sound. |
| if you have a empty fish tank and a tank full of water, which would allow a voice to travel faster | the tank full of water. |
