What does DNA stand for? deoxyribonucleic acid
What is DNA? contains the genetic code that gives instructions needed for an organism to grow, reproduce, etc.
What are the 4 nitrogen bases? Adenine, Cytosine, Guanine, Thymine
What is a gene? segment of DNA on a chromosome
What is a chromosome? rod shaped, in nucleus, made of proteins and DNA, controls production of proteins
What is phosphate? forms the sides of DNA with deoxyribose
What is deoxyribose? sugar that makes up the sides of DNA with deoxyribose
What is a double helix? shape of DNA strands
What is a hydrogen bond? connects nitrogen base on DNA
What is genetic code? the order of nitrogen bases on the DNA
How do the nitrogen bases connect to each other? Adenine <> Thimine Cytosine <> Guanine
What are the three parts of a nucleotide? nitrogen base, deoxyribos (sugar), phosphate
