2 Ureters Transport Urine to urinary bladder.
1 Urinary bladder Serves as a reservoir for Urine.
1 Urethra conveys urine from the urinary bladder to the outside of the body.
5 Majors classes of diuretics................
Osmotic Diuretics Ex- Mannitol ( osmitrol)
Mannitol Is currently only osmotic diurectic on the market.
Carbonic Anhydrous Inhibitor Ex- Diamox ( acetazolamide)Ex- Neptazane (Methazolamide)
Thiazide and thiazide like diuretics. Ex- (Hygrochlorothiazide) HCTZ and Diurel (Chlorothiazide)
Loop diuretics Ex- Bumex ( bumetanide) Lasix ( Furosemide)
Potassium (K) Sparing diuretics. Ex- Aldactone ( Spironolactone) and Midamor (amiloride)
Osmotic diuretics are highly effective in treatment of Cerebral edema and are primarily used for this purpose.
Carbonic Anhydrous inhibitor are used to treat Glaucoma and epilepsy and to lessen the effects of high Altitude on the body.
Thiazide and thiazide mainly used in the treatment of HTN
Loop diuretics commonly refered to as "High ceiling diuretics." in high dose loop diuretic can increase urine output. and are drug of choice (DOC) in the treatment of pulmonary edema.
Loop diuretics are used in treatment of HTN when other diuretics and hypertensives do not produce a satisfactory reponse.
Potassium Sparing diuretics are used in the treatment of edema associated with CHF, Cirrhosis of liver and kidney disease.
Hypovolemia Loss of blood volume
UTI Urinary tract infection
BPH Benign Proatatic Hyperplasia -this is an abnormal enlarment of the prostate gland. This is the most common medical condition ouucring in older men.
Nocturia Frequent urination at night.
Stress incontinence urine leakage during. Physical movement.
