Foreshadowing, Irony, Writer's Style

| Dramatic irony | occurs when the audience or readers know more about a situation than the character does. |

| Verbal irony | occurs when a character says one thing but really means the opposite. This is also referred to as sarcasm. |
| Writer's style | are the choices that a writer makes about words and sentences in a work determine its style. |
