| Solid | Matter that has definite shape and definite volume. |
| Liquid | Matter that has no definite shape but definite volume. |
| Gas | Matter that has no definite shape and no definite volume. |
| Kinetic Energy | The energy an object has due to motion. |
| Temperature | The measure of the average kinetic energy of all the particles in an object. |
| Phase Change | When matter changes between a solid, liquid, or a gas. |
| Melting | When a solid changes to a liquid. |
| Freezing | When a liquid changes to a solid. |
| Vaporization | When a liquid changes to a gas. |
| Boiling | When a liquid changes to a gas. Occurs under/below the surface of a liquid. |
| Evaporation | When a liquid changes to a gas. Occurs at the surface of a liquid. |
| Condensation | When a gas changes to a liquid. |
| Sublimation | When a solid changes to a gas. |
| Deposition | When a gas changes to a solid. |
| Physical Property | A characteristic you can observe or measure without changing the identity of the substance. |
| Chemical Property | Describes matter based on its ability to change into a new substance with different properties. |
| Physical Change | When one or more of its properties changes but doesn't change into a new substance. |
| Chemical Change | When one or more new substances are made that have new and different properties. |
| Water Vapor | Water in the gas state of matter. |
| Pressure | The amount of force applied. |
| Vacuum | An area that does not have any matter in it. |
