INDUSTRIAL ACTIVITIES DEFINITIONS

COAL It was the most commonly used energy source during the Industrial Revolution
OIL It is the most commonly used energy source and it produces petrol, lubricants, asphalt and others
NATURAL GAS It is used in gas-fired power stations and for heating
NUCLEAR ENERGY It is produceed to generate electricity but it is very dangerous
RUDIMENTARY TECHNOLOGY It is a technology inherited from artisanal manufacturing
TRADITIONAL INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY It includes machines and tools that originated during the Industrial Revolutions
ADVANCED TECHONOLOGY It is based on knowledge and innovation and some examples include robotics and microelectronics
HEAVY INDUSTRY It consumes huge amounts of raw materials, capital, energy, labour and space
SEMI-HEAVY INDUSTRY It uses products produced by the heavy industry to manufacture capital goods
LIGHT INDUSTRY It produces most of the items we use on a daily basis: mobile phones, shoes...
