Energy and motion vocabulary.

| Energy - | The ability to cause change. |
| Kinetic energy - | The energy of motion. |
| Potential energy - | The stored energy that an object has due to its position, condition, or chemical composition. |
| Mechanical energy - | The amount of work an object can do because of the object's kinetic energy plus its potential energy due to position. |
| Law of Conservation of Energy - | Energy cannot be created or destroyed but can be changed from one form to another. |
| Position - | The location of an object. |
| Speed - | The measure of how far something moves in a given amount of time. How quickly or slowly an object changes position. |
| Vector - | A quantity that has both size and direction. |
| Velocity - | The speed of an object in a particular direction. |
| Motion - | A change in position over time. |
| Reference point - | A location to which another location is compared. |
| Force - | A push or a pull, something that changes the motion of an object. |
| Net force - | The combination of all of the forces acting on an object. |
| Inertia - | The tendency of all objects to resist any change in motion. |
| Acceleration - | The rate at which velocity changes. |
