| 1) Force | a push or pull on an object |
| 2) Net force | combined forces on an object |
| 3) Unbalanced forces | forces acting on an object that aren’t balanced |
| 4) Balanced forces | forces acting on an object that are balanced |
| 5) Newtons | units to measure force |
| 6) Friction | a force where two surfaces exert one another |
| 7) Static friction | friction that acts on objects that aren’t moving |
| 8) Sliding friction | friction when two solid surfaces slide against each other |
| 9) rolling friction | when an object rolls against another object |
| 10) Fluid friction | when a solid object moves through a fluid |
| 11) Gravity | a force that pulls objects towards each other |
| 12) Mass | the amount of matter in an object |
| 13) Weight | the gravity on an object on the surface of a planet |
| 14) Free fall | when the only force acting on an object is gravity |
| 15) Air resistance | a type of fluid friction that acts on object flowing through the air |
| 16) Projectile | an object that is thrown |
| 17) Compression | an elastic force that squeezes or pushes |
| 18) Tension | an elastic force that stretches or pulls |
| 19) Inertia | an object’s tendency to resist change in motion |
| 20) Momentum | the quantity of motion |
| 21) The Law of Conservation of Momentum | without outside forces, objects that interact will have |
