QuestionAnswer
Control Chart Way to monitor a process to identify special causes of variation. Signals need to take corrective action when appropriate.
Pareto Diagram Arranges categories from highest to lowest frequency of occurrence. Helps prioritize types of problems. 80% of problems come from 20% of the items.
Flowchart A diagram of the sequence of steps of a process. AKA process map. Helps one understand a process better.
Histogram Bar graph showing variation in a set of data. Show frequency of observations within a specific group.
Check Sheet Tool used to identify problem. Enables users to record and organize data. Makes it easy to see where problems are occurring. Contains attribute or variable data.
Scatter Diagram Shows degree and direction of relationship between two variables.
Cause-and-Effect Diagram Helps organize a search for causes of problems. AKA fishbone or Ishiwaka diagram.
Run Chart Used to trackk the values of variables over time. Helps identify trends. Easy to use and interpret.
