Wave Characteristics

Review for Test on Wave Characteristics and Visible Light

Transmission When light goes through an object
Reflection When light bounces off an object
Absorption When light goes into, or gets absorbed by an object
Frequency The number of waves that go by in one second
Wavelength The distance from the top of one crest to the next crest
Amplitude The height of a wave
Crest The top of a wave
Trough The bottom of a wave
Medium Any physical thing that a wave can travel through
White Light A combination of all frequencies of visible light together
Black When all colors of white light are absorbed
White When all colors of white light are reflected
Blue When blue light is reflected but all other frequencies of light are absorbed by an object
Red When red light is reflected but all other frequencies of light are absorbed by an object
Wave The movement of energy from one place to another
