TermDefinition
Consumer an organism, usually an animal, that feeds on plants or other animals.
Decomposer an organism, usually a bacterium or fungus, that breaks down the cells of dead plants and animals into simpler substances.
Shredder Aquatic animals that feed on coarse particles of organic matter.
Dichotomous describes the type of branching in plants that results when the growing point (apical bud) similar maner after a period of growth, and so on. Dichotomous branching is common in ferns and mosses.
Pest a destructive insect or other animal that attacks crops, food, livestock, etc.
Integrated Pest Management Integrated pest management, also known as Integrated Pest Control is a broad-based approach that integrates practices for economic control of pests. IPM aims to suppress pest populations below the economic injury level.
