| What is the Integumentary system? | A major organ that accounts for 10% of body weight including: skin, hair, and all tissues below the surface of the skin down to the muscles. |
| Describe the anatomy of the skin. | Generally 3-5mm thick, thicker on the palms and soles of the feet/thinner on eyelids and genitals. In order: Kerotin, Epidermis, Dermis, Atapose tissue. |
| How do UVA rays affect the skin? | Can cause premature aging of the skin and possible changes in the cells DNA where it is absorbed. Can lead to cancer. |
| About how long is the small intestine, how is it divided and what is the overall process involved within it? | 6 meters. Divided into 3 sections: Duodenum (25cm), Jejunum(2.5m) and Ileum (3.5m). Small intestine begins to absorb nutrients, is responsible for final steps of digestion, then sends the remains into the large intestine. |
