Mass | a measure of the amount of matter in an object |
Newton's first law of motion | States that an object at rest will stay at rest and an object in motion will stay in motion unless an unbalanced force acts on the object |
Electric Current | rate in which charges pass through a given point |
Potential Difference | difference in potential energy between two locations |
Voltage | potential difference between two points measured in volts |
Insulator | material that does not conduct heat or electricity well |
Circuit | closed path through which electricity can flow |
load | device in a circuit that works through electrical energy |
Conductor | material that allows heat or electrical energy to pass through easily |
Resistor | object added to a circuit that halts the flow of electricity |
Switch | device used to control the flow of an electric current |
Series Circuit | Circuit in which all loads are joined one after another |
Parallel Circuit | Parts are joined together in multiple ways and difference across each part is he same |
magnetic force | force of attraction of repulsion generated by moving or spinning electric energy |
magnetic field | area surrounding a magnet in which the magnetic force exists |
electromagnetism | interaction between electricity and magnetism |
electromagnet | coil that has a soft iron core and that acts as a magnet when an electrical current is in the coil |
electric motor | device that converts electrical energy into mechanical energy |
generator | device which transforms mechanical into electrical energy |
