chapter 15-3 ears

TermDefinition
Eardrum A membrane of the middle ear that vibrates in response to sound waves.
Hammer A small bone i the middle of the ear that transmits vibrations from the eardrum.
Anvil A tiny bone that passes vibrations from the hammer to the stirrup.
Stirrup shaped bone of a chain of three small bones in the middle ear of humans and other mammals, involved in the conduction of sound vibrations to the inner ear
Cochlea the spiral cavity of the inner ear containing the organ of Corti, which produces nerve impulses in response to sound vibrations.
