chapter 15-3 eyes

TermDefinition
Cornea The transparent layer forming in the eye.
Pupil The part of the eye that controls how much light enters the eye.
Iris a flat, colored, ring-shaped membrane behind the cornea of the eye, with an adjustable circular opening (pupil) in the center.
Lens Lens changes the focal distance of the eye. In other words, it focuses the light rays that pass through it.
Retina a layer at the back of the eyeball containing cells that are sensitive to light and that trigger nerve impulses that pass via the optic nerve to the brain, where a visual image is formed.
Optic Nerve Short thick nerve that carries signals from the eye to the brain.
