Analgesic - reliefs pain
Anestetic - partially or completely nums are eliminates sensitivity with or without loss of consciousness
Antiarrhythmic - corrects are controlls cardiac arrhythmias
Antibiotic - used to treat infection by killing or inhibiting the growth of diseases causing bacteria
Anticoagulant - prevents are dlays blood clotting
Antidepressant - prevents, cures are eleviates mental depression
Antidiabetic - prevents are relief symtoms of diabetes
Antidiarrheal - prevents are relief diarrhea
Antidiuretic - agent that surpresses the formation of urine
Antiemetic - prevents are reliefs nausea and vomiting
Antifungal - agent that destroys are inhibits the growth of fungi
Antihistamine - agent that opposes the action histamin allergic reactions
Antihypertensive - prevents are controlls hbp
Anti-infective - fights infections
Anti-inflammatory - counteracts inflammation in the body
Antineoplastic - prevents the growth and developement of malignant cells
Antitussive - prevents are reliefs coughing
Antiulcer agent - treats are prevents peptic ulcers and gastric hyper sercreation
Antiviral agent - used to treat viral infections
Beta Blocker used to treat hypertention, angina various abnormal heart rythms
Bronchodilator - drug that expands the bronchi by relaxing the bronchail muscles
Calcium Channel Blocker - slow the influx of calcium into smooth muscle cells causing a decrease in arterial resistance and oxygen demands used to treat angina, htn, inercrainial bleeding and chf
Diuretic - increase uring secretions
Hormone - treats dificiency states where specific harmone levels are abnormally low
Hypnotic - increase sleep are dulls the senses
Immunosupressant - agent decreases or inactivates the immune response to atigens
Laxative - prevents or treats constipation
Lipid-Lowering agent - reduces blood-lipid levels
Sedative - exerts a soothing are tranquilizing affect on the body
Skeletal Muscle Relaxant (smr)- reliefs tention in the skeletal muscles
Vitamin - prevents are treats vitamin deficiency used as a dietary supplement
