Voice, Verbals, Irony
| Term | Definition |

| Active Voice | is the arrangement of a sentence so that the subject performs an action |
| Passive Voice | is when the subject has some action done to it |
| Indicative Mood | this mood is also called declarative mood, it is used to make statements |
| Interrogative Mood | this mood is used when asking questions |
| Imperative Mood | this mood is used for commands, instructions, or requests |
| Subjunctive Mood | this mood is used to show a condition or an imagined situation. |
| Conditional Mood | this mood is used when one event is dependent on another event happening |
| Irony | a contrast between expectation and reality |
| Verbal Irony | involves a contrast between what is said or written and what is meant |
| Situational Irony | occurs when what happens is very different from what is expected to happen |
| Dramatic Irony | occurs when the audience or the reader knows something a character does not know |
| Gerunds | are words that are formed with verbs but acts as nouns, usually ends in "ing" |
| Infinitives | a grammar term that refers to a basic verb form that often acts as a noun and is often preceded by the word "to" |
| Participles | a form of a verb that is used to indicate a past or present action and that can also be used like an adjectve |
