Motion and Energy

TermDefinition
Motion If its distance from another object is changing.
Reference Point A place or object used for comparison to determine if something is in motion.
Distance Is the length of a path between the two points.
Displacement Is the length and direction that an object has moved from its starting point.
Vector A measurable quantity that consists of both a magnitude and a direction.
Speed Tells us the rate at which an object moves.
Velocity Tells the speed and direction of a moving object
Acceleration Tells us the rate speed or direction changes.
Scalar Quantities described only by a magnitude.
