Reference Point Object used for comparison to determine if something is in motion
Motion If its distance from another object is moving
Distance The length of a path between 2 points
Displacement The length and direction that an object moved from its starting point
Vector A quantity that consist of both magnitude and a direction
Scalar Measurements that have magnitude, or size, only.
Speed The distance an object travels per unit of time
Velocity Speed in a given direction
Acceleration The rate at which velocity changes with time.
Energy The ability to do work or cause change
Kinetic Energy Energy that an object has due to its motion
Potential Energy Stored energy that results from the position or shape of an object
Gravitational Energy Potential energy that depends on the height of an object
Elastic Energy The energy of compressed or stretched object.
Mechanical Energy Kinetic or Potential energy associated with the motion or position of an object
Conservation of Energy The principle of starting the energy is not made or destroyed but is altered from one to another
Work A word that describes what is done on an object when a force is extended on an object that causes it to move
