| Motion | if its distance from another object is changing |
| Reference Point | place or object used for comparison to determine if something is in motion |
| Distance | length of a path between two points |
| Displacement | length and direction that an object has moved from its starting point |
| Vector | a quantity that consists of both a magnitude and a direction |
| Speed | the rate at which an object moves |
| Velocity | speed in a given direction |
| Acceleration | rate at which velocity changes |
| Scalar | an object that only has magnitude not direction |
| Energy | the ability to do work or cause change |
| Kinetic Energy | energy that an object has due to motion |
| Potential Energy | stored energy that results from the position or shape of an object |
| Gravitational Energy | Potential energy that depends on the height of an object |
| Elastic Energy | the energy of stretched or compressed objects |
| Mechanical Energy | kinetic or potential energy associated with the motion or position of an object |
| Conservation of Energy | a principle stating that energy cannot be created or destroyed, but can be altered from one form to another. |
| Work | force exerted on an object that causes it to move |
