conflict a struggle between opposing forces
internal conflict a struggle that takes place within a character's mind
external conflict a struggle a character has with an outside force

textural evidence specific proof from something written
analysis careful study of something by looking at the parts; what the parts do, and how they are related
inference an educated guess; clues in the text + what you know=guess about the author's meaning

rising action builds suspense, adds complications or obstacles
climax the turning point; point at which the conflict is most intense and dramatic
