Antagonist the person,force, or idea opposing the protagonist
Characters the people,animals, or imaginary creatures who take part in the action of a work of literature
Climax 1.End, especially to reach a final or climatic stage 2. the turning point of a story, usually the most exciting part
conflicts a struggle between opposing forces
dynamic character a character who undergoes important changes as the plot unfolds
exposition the part of a plot that provides background information and introduces the setting, conflict, and often the main characters. Usually at the beginning of a literary work
external conflict a conflict that involves a character who struggles against a force outside of him or herself, such as nature, physical obstacle or another character
falling action the stage of a plot in which the story begins to draw to a close, tension eases
inciting incident ends the exposition and sets the rest of the story in motion
inference a logical guess that is made based on facts and one's own knowledge and experience
internal conflict a conflict that occurs within a character
main characters the most important characters in literary works
minor characters the less important characters in a literary work
narrator the voice that tells a story
plot the series of events in a story
protagonist the main character in a story, play, or novel, they are involved in the main conflict of the story often times the hero
resolution the final part of the plot of a story, explaining how the conflict is settles may also answer the reader's remaining questions about the plot
rising action the stage of the plot the develops the conflict - things become more complicated
setting the time and place of the action
static character a character who remains the same throughout the story
