TermDefinition
Correlation A measurement of two variables that change together
Correlation Coefficient A relationship between two variables (from -1.0 to +1.0)
Scatterplot A graph cluster of dots
Illusory correlation Two variables that have no correlation (nonexistent)
Experiments A test to see an outcome
Experimental group The variable of testing one group
Controlled Group A group that is not exposed to the treatment
Random Assignment To assign a group of participants by chance.
Double- Blind Procedure Researchers and participants are blind to either a treatment or a placebo
Placebo Effect To make the participant think that they are getting treatment
Independent Variable Variable that stands alone
Dependent Variable Depends on the other factors.
Confounding Variables May cause another outcome
Validity Test ability to measure
