Correlation | A measurement of two variables that change together |
Correlation Coefficient | A relationship between two variables (from -1.0 to +1.0) |
Scatterplot | A graph cluster of dots |
Illusory correlation | Two variables that have no correlation (nonexistent) |
Experiments | A test to see an outcome |
Experimental group | The variable of testing one group |
Controlled Group | A group that is not exposed to the treatment |
Random Assignment | To assign a group of participants by chance. |
Double- Blind Procedure | Researchers and participants are blind to either a treatment or a placebo |
Placebo Effect | To make the participant think that they are getting treatment |
Independent Variable | Variable that stands alone |
Dependent Variable | Depends on the other factors. |
Confounding Variables | May cause another outcome |
Validity | Test ability to measure |
