Literary Devices: Foreshadowing, symbolism, symbol, tone, and allegory.
Foreshadowing: Technique to prepare the reader for whats coming up, hints, and the tone or tones.
Symbol: An sign that means a certain person, place, thing or idea.
Symbolism: The use of symbols in literature, a person, place, thing, or idea that represents itself and a larger idea or feeling(i.e. ♥=Love)(i.e dove=peace).
Tone: The kinds of feelings, emotions, and names from the story or book.
Allegory: The whole story is a symbol like pilgrims progress.
Rights of Passage and Coming of Age: Quinceanera, mitzvauh.
Old fashion and modern traditions: Modern Drivers License, leaving home, colleged graduation. Old fashion apprentices, journey men, and weddings.
Plot of Story: The story was about Brother coming of age by teaching Doodle to walk.
James Hurst: Grew up along the coast of North Carolina, chemical engineering, army wwll, New York Bank 34 years. Best known story.
