Sound

Sound Vocabulary

TermDefinition
Amplitude The distance between the resting point and a trough or crest; the height of a wave.
Frequency The number of crests or troughs of a wave that pass by over a certain amount of time.
Medium The matter through which a wave travels.
Pitch The measure of how high or low a sound is.
Sound A form of energy that is produced by vibrations and can be heard.
Vibrate To move back and forth quickly.
Volume The loudness of sound.
Wave A change that carries energy from one place to another.
Wavelength The distance between one crest or trough to the next on a wave.
