Distance How far you have traveled between two positions. It is always positive. It is a scalar quantity.
Displacement Change in position. It is straight line distance between your starting position and ending position. It is equal to Final position minus initial positive. It can be or negative. It is a vector quantity
Scalar Quantity that only requires
Vector An organism, typically a biting insect or tick, that transmits a disease or parasite from one animal or plant to another.
Speed In conclusion, speed and velocity are kinematic quantities that have distinctly different definitions. Speed, being a scalar quantity, is the rate at which an object covers distance. The average speed is the distance (a scalar quantity) per time ratio.
Velocity The average speed of an object is defined as the distance traveled divided by the time elapsed. Velocity is a vector quantity, and average velocity can be defined as the displacement divided by the time.
