| Parameter | Factors that can be measured |
| Manipulated Variable | The one variable in an experiment that is purposely changed |
| Responding Variable | The variable parameter that is expected to change because of the manipulated variable |
| Controlled Experiment | An investigation in which only one parameter is manipulated at a time |
| Data | The facts, figures, and other evidence gathered through observations |
| Qualitative Data | Descriptions that don't include any sort of numbers; just words. |

| Data Point | The point showing the location of an intersection |
| Line of Best Fit | The smooth line that reflects the general pattern of a graph. |
| Linear Graph | A line graph in which the data points yield a straight line |
| Slope | The steepness of a graph line |
| Nonlinear Graph | A line graph in which the data points don't fall along a straight line |
