Lymphatic system

Lymphatic system vessel system apart but connected to the circulatory system. Returns fluids from tissue spaces to bloodstream.
Lymphatic system is composed of? lymphatic capillaries,vessels,ducts and nodes
3 main functions are? Transport-protiens and fluids lost by capillary seepage,back to bloodstream Protects- body against pathogens by phagocytosis and immune response Serves_ as the pathway for the absorption of fats from the small intestines into the bloodstream.
Spleen soft,dark,red oval body lying in the upper left quadrant of the lymphatic system
Tonsils lymphoid masses located n depressions in the mucous membranes of the face and pharynx.Consist of the palatine tonsil,pharynrgal (adenoid) and lligual tonsil. They filter bacteria and aid in the formation of white blood cells.
Thymus considered to be part of the endocrine glands but due to its apperance and function is part of the lymphoid system. Plays an essential role in the formation of antibodies and development of the immune response in the newborn.
T-cells manufactured by the thymus,located in the lymph nodes, they remain until an antigen attaches to their surface protein at specific receptor sites.
Immune system consists of the tissues,organs and physiologic processes used by the body to identify abnormal cells,and foreign tissue cells that may have been transplanted into the body.
