Story Plot Terms

exposition introduction
conflict problem for the main character
protagonist main character
antagonist character who is creating the problem for the main character/protagonist
point of view perspective of the narrator
rising action events in the story that add to the suspense or add complications to the story
climax turning point in the story
falling action events that following the climax leading to the conclusion of the story
denouement the conclusion of the story that “ties up” the details of the story
external conflict problem the main character has with a person or force outside of him/herself
internal conflict problem the main character has within her/himself
