TPACK Flashcards

Learning about the TPACK Model

TermDefinition
What does TPACK stand for? Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge
What is the purpose of TPACK? TPACK is a framework that identifies the knowledge teachers need to teach effectively with technology.
At the heart of the TPACK framework, there are three primary forms of knowledge. What are they? Content (CK), Pedagogy (PK), and Technology (TK)
TPACK also emphasizes the intersections between the three forms of knowledge, representing four more knowledge bases applicable to teaching with technology. What are they? Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK), Technological Content Knowledge (TCK), Technological Pedagogical Knowledge (TPK), and the intersection of all three circles, Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK)
What does pedagogy mean? The art or science of teaching; education; instructional methods. Also the principles, practice, or profession of teaching.
What is Technology knowledge (TK)? TK refers to an understanding of the way that technologies are used in a specific content domain.
What is Content knowledge (CK)? CK refers to a teacher's content and working knowledge of concepts, theories, conceptual frameworks about a given subject.
What is Pedagogical knowledge (PK)? PK refers to a teacher's knowledge about how students learn, teaching approaches, methods of assessment and knowledge of different theories about learning.
What is Pedagogical content knowledge (PCK)? PCK refers to knowledge about how to combine pedagogy and content effectively.
What is Technological content knowledge (TCK)? TCK refers to knowledge about how technology may be used to provide new ways of teaching content.
What is Technological pedagogical knowledge (TPK)? TPK refers to the constraints of technology as an enabler of different teaching approaches.
TPACK is the overlap of all 6 forms of knowledge. What does TPACK, therefore, refer to? Technological pedagogical content knowledge refers to the knowledge and understanding of the interplay between CK, PK and TK when using technology for teaching and learning.
