Term | Definition |
---|---|
Concentration | The amount of solute dissolved compared to a unit of solvent. |
Dilute | To make a solution less concentrated, usually by adding more liquid. |
Volume | The amount of space an object takes up, in this unit, the amount of space a liquid takes up |
Solute | A substance that dissolves in a solvent to form a solution |
Solvent | A substance that dissolves a solute to form a solution |
Density | mass per unit volume |
Solution | A special mixture in which one or more substances dissolves in a solvent |
Dissolve | When a solute breaks down into tiny pieces and spreads out evenly throughout the solution |
Concentrated | A solution containing a lot of solute |
Saturated | The solvent can't dissolve any more solute. |
Soluble | A substance that is capable of being dissolved. |
Insoluble | A substance that is not able to dissolve |
