| poem | a short text usually organized into short lines |
| speaker | the person who is telling the story or poem |
| contribute | help, show, support, add to |
| stanza | one group of lines in a poem; it is separated by a space form other stanza; like a paragraph for poems |
| foreshadow | give hints or clues about what will happen later |
| figurative | not literal |
| simile | comparing two things by using like or as |
| metaphor | comparing two things without using "like" or "as" |
| personification | describing an object by using human terms |
