Types of Sentences

Study the four basic sentence types!

QuestionAnswer
What is a simple sentence? A sentence with one clause that only has a subject and predicate.
What is a compound sentence? A sentence with two independent clauses and a comma and coordinating conjunction.
What is a complex sentence? A sentence that contains one independent clause and one dependent clause, joined by a subordinating conjunction.
What is a compound-complex sentence? A sentence with at least one dependent clause and two independent clauses.
